Psychotherapy is a therapeutic method that allows for deep issues to be addressed, healed and integrated. It is an interactive process that allows the client to uncover the root causes of patterns, thus providing new solutions to aid healing and integration therefore creating a new way of being able to cope.
Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behaviour change and that are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient, or to improve group relationships
Psychotherapy uses a much more interactive process where the therapist will for example ask a question and through the verbal and non-verbal communication from the client understand how they run their problem or create their map of reality. It will look at the What history and upbringing of the client, to gain an insight into their key developmental stages such as relationships with parents and siblings, schooling and friends, so that an understanding can be gained of how the problems were created. If the client can talk about the events in the past, it is possible that missing stages can be revisited and learned so that the problem is eased.

Please be aware that certain emotional conditions may limit the use of some of the techniques. Hypno-psychotherapeutic techniques would not be the most useful for psychotic illness or severe depression, and alternative methods may need to be used. This will be discussed with you during the first consultation.

Karyn Segers is a Professional Psychotherapist with over 12 years’ experience and is an accredited member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists), a fellow member of the NSHP (National Society of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy) and a member of Awaken School of Outcome Oriented Psychotherapies Ltd. Her experience includes working with people between the ages 18-94 years old, both professionally and privately. Experience includes working with trauma, rape, abuse, stress related to work or family, stop smoking, weight management, sleep disorders, inner child healing, past life and soul healing, grief and bereavement related problems as well as phobias.
